Homebound Friday

It's Friday (yay!) but I have a horrible cold (boo!) so Paul and Iris have gone off to spend the morning playing in an orchard with her friends.

Ordinarily, this gift of a slice of time would be put to use in some (hopefully productive) way, but I just can't quite seem to get a handle on anything this morning and am contemplating a return to bed.

But before I do, here's a few pictures of my surroundings..

Paul is a writer, a copywriter to be exact. He's working on something for The National Trust right now and took all these Ladybird books to a meeting yesterday. I have such strong memories of these books from my own childhood. They're a wonderful resource, perfect for brushing up on Nature facts.

My latest floral obsessions, heady lilacs and delicious lily-of-the-valley (thank you sweetest Naomi).

A bit of rearranging of treasures on the mantelpiece.

Sorry to hear about the cold. Back to bed def. sounds like a good plan!

Glad to see the headless horseman has found his niche! He looks very at home.

Thanks Flora, I didn't quite make it back to bed, got sucked into the blogosphere, healing of a different kind I suppose!

Dicky - that is my new favourite word - Tessellation. It rolls pleasingly off the tongue. Just beautiful.

You have such a lovely collection of books! I'm envious...I had the seashore one when I was a kid and always dropping it into a rock pool when I got over excited at seeing a crab! Thanks for following my blog too, nice to know there's people out there at the other end!
hope you get well soon, (so you can collect more!)
