Car Booting Treasure - Part 3

Part 3 is here! Whoo!

Look at the lovely and very groovy bedding. Both sets came with complete with pillow cases and are so perfect for mix and match bed-making! They make me feel very cheerful indeed.

I found this book in a charity shop (whilst on the hunt for Polaroid film) today, it's called Orlando (The Marmalade Cat) Buys A Farm by Kathleen Hale. It was published in 1942 and then re-issued in 1972.

According to Wikipedia - '
Orlando The Marmalade Cat 'with eyes like twin gooseberries' was one of the classic children's book characters of the 1940s and 1950s. The stories are known for their quirky wit and extravagant illustrations. They combine adventure with friendship and family life.'

The illustrations are extraordinary.

And then there's my £2 Polaroid.

It's a Land Camera 1000SE, it is supposed to take SX-70 film which was discontinued in 2006. But apparently you can modify the camera to take the 600 film which I found today to my very great suprise, in our tiny Boots the Chemist (thanks for the tip-off kt).

But I'm both paralysed by fear and giddy with excitement, because eeek!, what if it doesn't work? I've read some reviews that suggest that this model isn't so great anyway. And that it needs a flash bar for indoor pics... Anyway suggestions, advice and general hand-holding at this point would be grand.

Oh yes the Orlando books are just beautiful aren't they. The stories are a little kooky, but the illustrations more than make up for it. She sells 'em in Girl's Own by the way, if you want more! (re-issued ones)

Love the second duvet (purple flowers).

I imagine you live in a huge place to accommodate all your finds! I have had to stop finding treasures because there is no room and I imagine when I'm gone that there will be a big skip outside my house full of stuff that no-one understands!
The purple flowery fabric is very familiar, I think one of my daughters had it as a bed sheet or even me when i was young. You think you'll never forget but you do
Good luck with the polaroid..I'm not very familiar with them but have you downloaded Poladroid yet?
www.poladroid.net
good fun stuff and no need for films and expense

Yes it is lucky that you live in such a palacial house isn't it Nat?

We must have a show and tell of cr-ay-zee bedding. Nick groans every time I announce another 50p duvet set has been purchased. He just can't get his head around non fitted sheets.....

Louise, I think that I live in a huge house as well. I don't. It's a modest 3-bed Victorian Terrace. Hmm. Well, I need more shelves and fast. I do know Poladroid, see here - http://le-petit-oiseau.blogspot.com/2009/04/rediscovery.html

Love that bed linen! Those patterns would look great with crisp white sheets.

I am such a fabric hound, too, and I don't even know how to sew!

Regarding the polaroid, I've never modified an sx-70, but they really take the best pictures outside unless you have a bright, lighting kit for inside. Skip the flash bar unless you can find an unused one at your local surplus store.

Fun!

looking forward to seeing how your polaroid works out. mine used to really p me off, i had to hold it slightly off centre in order to get a centre image. it was trial and error and a lot of film wasted!
