Weekend Finds and Sunny Summer Days

Wow, it seems that summer is really here, what a fine few days it has been!

We've been making the most of it with exciting trips to a couple of beaches on the bus (Iris loves to go on buses), having proper bucket and spade days with ice cream and bouncy castles and paddling in the shallows with her friends. Then there's been trips to The Field, for weeding, watering and picking - why just yesterday we picked sugar snap peas, strawberries, salad and asparagus. Just lovely.

Today, of course, it being Sunday an' all, was time again for carboot sales. We went to one in the morning and another this afternoon. The first one was magnificent! At the very first stall, I scored so many ....books! Ha! But the best kind of books, Picture Puffins and Picture Lions. I have them all spread at my feet right now. I have been trying to catergorise them but there's too many!

Oh, and some more Young Puffins naturally.

It's been so much fun buying with the shop in mind! Not to mention the swaps, at the moment I'm working on offerings for Artemis and Laura.

So it hasn't been ALL books but lots of other delightful things as well. I haven't managed to photograph everything today so I'll show you some more tomorrow. But here's a little glimpse (all bound for the shop, well, more or less!)...

Also, thank you all so much for your lovely encouraging comments about the shop, they made wonderful reading and have spurred me on. So it's back to the coalface for me for a little while longer tonight!

well, that particular post left me no option but to find a way to comment. so let me start at the top - what a completely gorgeous pic of iris. love the colours and her pose is such perfection it almost looks staged. love.

now onto the books. o.m.f.g.... finding a stall like that is the stuff of dreams. i would love to have seen your face. you might have to ring me just to talk me through exactly how it felt.and as a continuation of the "things we both have" story, last week i got those exact ponder and william books and ballet shoes.

and now onto the goodies for the shop...darling is that apples i see? it all looks so great, i'm so excited for you....can't wait to see the pics.

well done darling, now let's make some plans for this week/end xxx

Oh my...amazing finds today...wow! All the books you find always give me a little inner glowing feeling...you always manage to get me reminiscing and feeling all nostalgic! Billy Blue Hat etc...those were my first reading books at primary school! Really looking forward to seeing all the goodies in your shop. Glad you've enjoyed the sunshine. x

The seventy tree^^^^
ME TOO!!!! I was just about to write that very same thing about the Billy Blue hat books!
It is such a trip down memory lane reading about your finds and what a fabby selection of books. Well done that girl.
I swear I had boot sale withdrawal symptoms this morning as we had no time to fit one in and as we drove past one I made small whimpering noises! I am so envious of your weekend devotion to the boot.

I second The Seventy Tree - Village with 3 Corners books...just what I have been looking for! I think you might need to open an ACTUAL book shop for children's books...I'd be in it all the time!

Ooooh - my mum read my that copy of The Little Princess when I was younger, but when we got to the last chapter, the pages were missing!! I imagine I had a massive tantrum; at any rate, she had to go out and get another much uglier copy so we could finish it :)

Anyway, looks like you've been having fun!

Inspired by you I found some lovely puffin books in a chazza shop today out in Hampshire. I didn't buy them but they had the exact two Ponder and William books as in your picture- spooky!
