*NEW* & *MENTIONS* & *THANKS*

Oh, how nice! Some new people over here, hello! *waves* Do budge up and make space for them. Thank you all for reading and commenting, old and new!

Speaking of old and new, here are some *new* *old* things in the shop.

I am happy to report that the cups have gone to a fine home, although they were going to emigrate for a while.

Oh! I have had some very cheery and jolly mentions recently including two happy giveaway winners, thank you very much Elisabeth, Deborah, Nell and Anna! I am going to be be selling some of my block printed illustrations soon, nicely mounted & ready to frame.

Finally, taaaa-daaah! I am very pleased and excited to say that my plates are currently on display (and for sale) at The Maisonette in Glasgow, which I am really thrilled about.

The plates look great with all the rest of their carefully chosen beautiful, covetable treasures.

Doing anything nice this weekend? We're going to a party!

To The Market & Beyond

Right, where were we? I have been sucked into a maelstrom and a whirligig and find myself slightly bamboozled. Last week, I had some really nice things in the mail, that really, deserve their own post by rights. Thanks, Alessandra & Louise!

Here's a little look at what Louise sent me (read more on her blog).

I got a haircut, so please now enjoy this side view of my head.

I have been thinking of a sort of 1940s chin-length bob, (I'm growing out my fringe) which I can pin up on one side. I'd still like to go red. Really, really, really red. Iris had her hair cut too, mainly because she refuses to brush it resulting in epic battles most mornings. It looks nice, a neat blunt fringed bob. She has much better hair than me.

I went to a giant flea on Sunday and that was mighty fun. I bought myself a few choice garments perfect for Autumn/Winter and that made me naturally, rather happy.

There was lots of vintage furs for some reason (Winter coming?), I have a friend who wears vintage fur very well, but I don't know myself, which is kind of silly, cos I eat meat (now), I wear leather, I have sheepskin rugs.. Would you?

I also got some great fabric, and new things for the shop!

But now Iris has chicken pox, and we're very much in its all itchy wake. The poor lamb even has one on her tongue for goodness sake!

So, she's not in kindergarten this week, and the shop (shelves emptying fast, AMAZING!) remains un-updated, my flickr 365 lolls around uncared for, and (yikes) all my spare time is taken up with Twitter. I have rather fallen for it. Much to the detriment of everything else. Whoops. See you there?!

Oh and I must say, I am tickled pink to see that I have *200* no wait, *201* followers, that's really lovely and amazing. Thank you muchly. And hallo Bob!

New In The Shop & More!

I have added a few new things to the shop - take a look and better still, buy it all. Not that I'm being bossy or owt.

In other news, I have been out for a walk searching for signs of Autumn. Yes, there is a tiny bit of Autumn. Can't wait for full all-colour woodland displays!

What else? Well, I watched Iris climb very high in a tree.

We played dress-up with her dolls.

And I got some parcels ready to post..

How has your first week of October been?

New! {Vintage} In The Shop! Part 2 Or Is It 3?

I'm aware I'm being very shop-centric in my bloggings at the moment, sorry. It's just that having neglected it for so long, I really feel like putting it out there, otherwise, I'll have to get a proper job and lord knows, I don't want that. So, please, if you like what you see, will you tell your friends and generally push people my way? I'd be really everso grateful.

I have just put these two LOVELY Kenneth Townsend dishes (and the groovy girl tile above) in the shop this very afternoon. It was quite hard to do, I'd love to keep them, but now I'm all about the commerce, I just can't... So, off you go my pretties!

In other news, there was a hat festival here at the weekend, everyone looked so jolly and dapper.

It really made me want to make a bit more effort to wear a hat and suchlike. But I type this, wearing jeans and crumpled tee however, not dandified in the slightest. Tsk! Tsk! Do you have a favourite hat? This winter, I would like a felt hat with a wide brim that calls to mind Ali Macgraw in Love Story. You can see some nice examples here.

I'll be back later this week to announce a giveaway and also something exciting in the pipeline!

New! {Vintage} In The Shop!

Hooray! At laaaaaaaast! Some new things to brighten the shelves of my little shop. The sale is still on for a short time *only* while I add some more newness (see here for details). And I have lowered postage on most things too, now it's mostly £2.50 in the UK and £3.50 elsewhere, unless it's a exceptionally heavy or delicate item. So do amble over and take a look and be sure to let me know what you think!

p.s. Twitter is highly addictive. And I have changed my name. Thanks so much for all your warm welcomings!

twitter/shop/sale/giveaway news

I've added another string to my virtual bow. Twitter. Yes. Well, it's all the rage, innit? Here I am - confusingly tweeting as the silver forest (my long forgotten tumblr name)because I couldn't be le petit oiseau. Siiigh. Anyway, who here also has a twitter thing going on? I need a bit of hand-holding I think. My plan is to be pithy and witty. But we'll just have to see about that.

My plan for full-steam-ahead, as per last week has faltered slightly. Luckily, it's for reasons beyond my control so I don't have to feel so guilty about it. And by tomorrow, it should be all sorted! I am still all set for updating the shop, (see more goodies below). Until then, shop away with merriment, there's 25% off everything until the new stuff comes in. Just use the code, endofsummer at the checkout. Everything must go. I am open to modest bouts of haggling too, so do email me, I might just say yes!

And I am also hoping to have a little giveaway soon (note to self - this week?) to usher in the new season. Autumn, eh? I guess you're here to stay.

I've added a few new things to the shop. It's been a busy, busy few days and I'm too tired to write or do any more.

New in The Shop & Other Trifling Matters

We're all over our malaise now, phew and hooray. And looking forward to another sunny sunny (carbooty) weekend. Yes!

Excitingly there are a few new things in the shop.

And in other news. After a conversation with a real life trained proper photographer friend about my colour collections, I have decided to re-shoot them all. Yes. All.

You see, I would still really like to get some postcards and prints made. Unfortunately, the light in the original images was simply not good enough to do that. And I also had the bright idea to use my newly repainted letter press tray which gives it a more formal and curated vibe. Nice, no?

Now I find myself re-griped by a colour obsession and scouring the house for all things red, blue, green, yellow and orange etc.. I will show you some more as I go.

OH! And see the cherry blossom? It's just beginning, this tree was early, but round the corner are about 6 old cherry trees all in a line, and I can't wait for them to get their pom-poms on!

Have a jolly & sunny weekend!

scenes from my week

I am gripped by the urge to spring-clean at the moment. I have cleaned out all my kitchen cupboards, rearranged my mantel, tidied my studio and had everything out of the shed.

Out with old, in with the new, or in with the clean. Although, Spring has been put on hold by a week of rain, rain, rain. It's raining now.
Bleugh.

So it has been good to search out fun, colour and sunshine where we can.

Actually there's not much else to report, I have some ideas percolating, ideas for drawings and makings but it has all taken a backseat due to this cleaning frenzy.

That's okay though, sometimes I think it's good to let things properly come together in your head before you put them to paper. Or maybe this is another strain of that cursed affliction, procrastination. Hmmm.

This weekend will hopefully bring a few treasures, some nice grub (I am slowly starting to want to cook again after a hiatus at the stove, do you ever get that?) and some time spent outside with not too much of the aforementioned rain.

Remember, you still have time to enter my grand giveaway bonanza, and there's a couple of days remaining on the 10% discount in my shop (see here for details).

Happy weekend times to you all!
