Discovering The Past

We're staying at my parents' for a few days and so I have taken the opportunity to seek out some old family photo albums, another timely trot down memory lane for me. I was really thrilled to rediscover this one, kept by my Grandfather, Gem, in the 1940s, when he was a law undergraduate at Cambridge University.

He and his friends all look so carefree and elegant, just so incredibly well-turned out it has to be said.

The album charts their travels to Sweden and Denmark (where my Sri Lanken Grandfather saw and felt snow for the first time, and skied for the first time too). I wish sportswear still looked this good.

They hung out in parks..

Took boats out on the Cam and all had a splendid time by the looks of it. I find this all fascinating. And the clothes! Oh, I'm completely captivated by their outfits.

I have some more to share with you, my grandparents as they began courting (more fabulous clothes) and some of me and my mum in the 1970s!

I so love your photos!

I have a sad story...my parents threw all our family photos away all in the name of 'decluttering'...unbelievable!

Your photos are incredible - and everyone seems so stylish, not an embarrassing outfit in sight. Lovely.
